Tommy Nyle Morgan, known affectionally as Nyle to his friends and family, passed away peacefully due to natural causes on August 7, 2025 in
Odessa, Texas. He was attended by his family and loved ones.
Nyle was born on October 19, 1960 in Waco, Texas. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia; daughters and sons-in-law Shelby and Dustin Bell, Stormie and Robert Hobbs, and Michelle and Matt Gall; sons and daughters-in-law Jonathan and Clarissa Morgan and Aaron and Cierryanna Wheeler; son Bradley Wheeler; grandchildren Annalynn, Parker, Brendan, Fischer, Gunnar, Deacon, Johnny, Senaida, Kilana, Kason, Isaiah and Landon; sister and brother-in-law Gail and Randy Acker, and best friends Tony and Tina Rice. Nyle was preceded in death by his parents, Tommy and Kay (Bannister) Morgan, and his brother, Travis Anthony Morgan.
Nyle's early childhood years were spent in
Odessa, TX. Later, he moved to East Texas where he spent his secondary education years in Hughes Springs and Ore City. Afterwards, Nyle answered the call to serve his country and spent five years in the United States Army where his leadership and commitment earned him the rank of Sergeant. After his honorable discharge, Nyle continued to work as a contractor for the military, traveling all over the world. He served in Germany, Japan, Guam, Afghanistan, Iraq, and multiple US states, including New Jersey and California. Eventually, he moved back to Texas. His time in the military instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life.
His adventurous spirit led him to explore new places and experience different cultures which brought him great joy and many stories to share. Generous to a fault, Nyle was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back without a second thought. Oftentimes, he was known to host distant relatives or other people in need in his home. His outgoing personality made him a friend to all. Although, his witty sarcasm could leave you either bewildered or in tears of laughter. He was a man who lived his life with a sense of purpose and a deep commitment to the things he loved. He had a deep love for sports, especially for the Dallas Cowboys, which was instilled in him by his father. He was a true sports fanatic, often found cheering on his favorite teams and sharing his love for the game with his children and grandchildren. However, his all-time favorite teams were whichever ones his grandkids were on. He was even known to plan his vacations and travel around watching them play.
On March 7, 2016, Nyle met the love of his life, Trish, and they lived a beautifully happy life together in Odessa. They travelled all over the US, including Alaska, Tennessee, New Mexico and Ohio spending time with family along the way and enjoying their time together. As we remember Nyle, we celebrate the life of a man who was a loving husband, a caring father, a loyal friend, and a proud veteran. His legacy of kindness, adventure, and generosity will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Nyle's presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created with each of us will be cherished forever.
Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and condolences may be sent online to the family.
