Trenna Pickrell Malone

Trenna Pickrell Malone 90, passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2025, in Sandy, Utah, of natural causes. She was born August 20, 1935, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Roy Miller and Wanda Robison Pickrell. She married Russell Malone December 27, 1959; later divorced.
Trenna graduated from South High School and attended Brigham Young University, where she was a member of Orchesis. While there, she worked in student government and had the privilege of serving as secretary to the Honorable Lloyd D. George, then student body president. She also attended the University of Utah and the University of Maryland. In 1952, Trenna won the "Miss Physical Culture" contest, held in conjunction with the "Mr. Utah" competition.
During her marriage, Trenna worked for the United States government for three years in Châteauroux, France. She learned French and cherished her time living abroad. She continued her government service and retired after 28 years from Hill Air Force Base, where she was recognized with Outstanding and Sustained Superior Performance awards. She also served as the secretary to the Salt Lake Chapter of the Air Force Association. Later in her career at Hill Air Force Base, she became a bus driver for the Utah Transit Authority, transporting Base employees. Following retirement from Hill, she worked for the Utah State Tax Commission.
Trenna was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She felt honored to be a secretary for James E. Faust during his service as her Stake President. She also served as Mutual President in Châteauroux, France, a Sunday School teacher, and an assistant to the Relief Society
President.
As a child, Trenna contracted polio and, in later years, experienced a resurgence of symptoms. Despite these challenges, she learned ballroom dance and received recognition at the Miami Beach Grand Nationals for her samba and swing performances. She enjoyed swimming, ice skating and cake decorating. Trenna was always well-read and followed current events closely. She was a great movie critic and student of cinematic history. She loved collecting old books and frequented garage sales and swap meets to
find the best deals.
Family was central to Trenna's life. She cherished her brother Jack, her niece and nephews, and their families. She was a devoted caregiver to her mother, Wanda, who lived past 100. Trenna was known for her beautiful penmanship and faithfully sent personal, thoughtful cards to loved ones on every occasion. She delighted in visits with her Robison and Pickrell relatives.
Trenna is survived by her brother, Jack L. Pickrell; nephews, John (Melinda) Pickrell and Scott (Erin) Pickrell; and her niece, Diane (Scott) Brown; as well as six great-nephews and three great-nieces. She was
preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Wanda Pickrell.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 8, at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing prior at 10:00 a.m., at Premier Funeral Services, 67 East 8000 South, Salt Lake City, Utah. Interment will follow at Elysian Burial Gardens.
