Troy A. Hatlestad, age 49, of Withee, died unexpectedly on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Marshfield Medical Center.
A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen. Rev. Tom Myhre will officiate. Family and friends are welcome from 2:00 p.m. until time of the service Thursday at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Troy was born on July 4, 1973, the son of David and Charlotte (Kell) Hatlestad in Marshfield. He graduated from Owen-Withee High School in 1991. Troy attended Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire, earning an Associate Degree. He worked for the Village of Withee for 30 years with the Public Works department, including 12 years as the director.
On May 23, 1998, Troy was united in marriage to Jona Knittle at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Withee. Together they have two twin daughters, Kyan and Tegan, who he loves and treasures.
Troy enjoyed hunting with his friends and brother, Todd. They took many hunting trips for big game, including cougars and elk out west and also boar hunting in Michigan. He also enjoyed golfing, archery, softball and traveling. Troy was a member of the Owen-Withee Lions Club and the Boomtown Chasers Snowmobiling Club from Curtiss. He will be most remembered for loving life and his infectious laugh and smile.
Troy is survived by his wife, Jona; two daughters: Kyan and Tegan; His parents: David and Charlotte Hatlestad of Withee; two siblings: Todd (Christie ) Hatlestad of and Tanya (Bill ) Ovyn both of Withee; six nieces and nephews: Ashley (Jesse) Jones, Andrew (Andrea) Cherney, Christopher (Sarah) Hatlestad, Spencer Hatlestad (Natasha), Jake (Ari) Ovyn and Haley (Charlie) Pogodzinski; his mother-in-law, Doris Lund of Owen; other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Alfred and Alma Hatlestad; maternal grandparents, Norman and Irene Kell; and his brother-in-law, Jason Knittle.
