Troy Payton Hernandez, a bright light extinguished far too soon, was born on June 8, 2009, in Jackson, TN. He left us on March 5, 2025, leaving a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him. Troy was a sophomore at South Side High School, full of youthful dreams and aspirations that cut short all too early. His life, albeit brief, was filled with an abundance of love and joy that surrounded him every day.

A cherished son, brother, grandson, and friend, Troy was known for his loving and kind spirit. He had an innate ability to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed, always present to support others, whether at school, with family, or in his community. His amazing smile had a unique way of lighting up any room, bringing warmth and happiness to everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.

Family was of utmost importance to Troy. He loved spending time with them, often engaging in activities that brought them closer together, like roughhousing with his siblings or enjoying evenings under the open sky. The memories shared within his family were treasures—moments filled with laughter and camaraderie.

Troy was deeply involved in his church community as well, belonging to the youth group at First Baptist Church at Bemis. His commitment to faith and fellowship illustrated his character, exemplifying a devotion that profoundly shaped his young life. He loved his church as much as he cherished his family, creating bonds and forging friendships that enriched his spirit.

Among his hobbies, Troy found joy in fishing and playing games on his Xbox with friends and family. A poet at heart, he often stopped to capture breathtaking photos of sunsets, appreciating the beauty of nature and the moments life offered.

Troy took immense pride in his accomplishments, particularly his beloved El Camino, which he eagerly worked on, dreaming of the day he would drive it. He looked forward to receiving his driver’s license in June, a milestone that he had anticipated with youthful enthusiasm.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving parents, Jason and Miranda Hernandez; siblings, Jordan, Valerie and Navahia; grandparents, Ishmael & Vickie Hernandez and Patricia Antwine (Brian Meredith); great-grandparents, Pat Hardwick, Candelaria Aguilera, and Ron Greene; great aunt and uncle, Joanne “JoJo” & Paul Prather; aunts & uncles, Christy & Kevin Canada, Jenny & Ashley Birmingham, Haley Antwine (Lainey), Hunter Antwine, Jasmine Garcia, Damien Hernandez, Christian Hernandez; and oh so many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his great grandmother, Valre Greene; great grandfather, Harry Hardwick; and grandmother, Olesha Anderson.

A celebration of life will be held 6:00 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Bemis, with Brother John Gaters officiating. The family will receive friends prior from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Bemis Youth Group Fund by mail to 116 Bemis Lane, Jackson, TN 38301.

Troy leaves behind countless memories etched into the hearts of those who knew him, a reminder of the loving, kind, and vibrant young man he was. His memory will forever be cherished, and his spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him.
