Ula B. Dow, the daughter of Evan D. and Faye L. (Trease) Bryan, was born January 7, 1944, in Newton, Iowa. She graduated from the Newton Senior High School with the class of 1962.
On November 8, 1963, Ula was united in marriage with Clarence Dow and the union was blessed with two children and four grandchildren and two step grandchildren. Ula had worked for Kmart at the service desk for many years and for Pyramid until her retirement. Upon Clarence's retirement they would spend many enjoyable winters in Casa Grande, AZ. Clarence would precede Ula in death on July 2, 2000. On November 1, 2016, Ula was united in marriage with Wayne Cook in Las Vegas, NV, and was welcomed into the extensive Cook family where she became a stepmom to three, and gained many more grandchildren, great grandchildren, and even a great-great grandchild. Ula was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing bridge with her club and subbed for others. She was also a happy member of the "Coffee Chicks" and enjoyed spending time with family.
Ula died on Sunday, August 31, 2025, surrounded by her family, at her home in Newton. She was 81 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence Dow; a brother, Ken Bryan and a sister, Lois Schwab.
Those left to honor Ula's memory include her husband, Wayne Cook; her son, Doug Dow; her daughter, Denise (Kenneth) Reed, Stepsons Mark and Tim (Dot) Cook of Kokomo, IN; Stepdaughter Angel Moss of FL; her twelve grandchildren; her fourteen great grandchild; her great-great granddaughter; her sister, Eva Borchert and her brother, Vern (Sue) Bryan.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 5, 2025, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Newton. The family will greet friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 4, 2025, at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Memorials made be designated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and may be left at the church or the funeral home.
