Ursula M. Wing, 93, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025, in Stamford, Connecticut.
Born on November 10, 1931, in Flensburg, Germany, Ursula was the beloved daughter of Kurt and Regina Siedner. In September of 1939, amidst the growing threat of Nazi persecution, Ursula and her family-including her sister Rosemarie Volk-immigrated to the United States in search of safety and freedom.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Ursula is survived by her two children: Mark Gorwitz and his wife Arlene, and Sandra Gottlin and her husband Bill. She was a proud and loving grandmother to her granddaughter, Alexandra.
Ursula dedicated much of her professional life to public service, working for the Michigan Department of Social Services. Her commitment to helping others was widely recognized and reflected her deep compassion and sense of duty.
In her later years, Ursula was lovingly cared for by her devoted aides, Vera, Paulette and Norma, whose kindness and companionship brought her comfort and dignity.
A graveside service will be held on June 1, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Beth El Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Jewish Community of Flensburg and HIAS (Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society)-two organizations that reflect the values and journey of Ursula's life.
She will be remembered for her strength, grace, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
Services are under the care of Thomas M. Gallagher Funeral Home located at 104 Myrtle Ave. Stamford, CT 06902. For online condolences please visit Gallagherfuneralhome.com
