Vaneda Veryl Doyen, 91 of Wellsburg, Iowa passed away on June 26, 2024. She was born on October 14, 1932, daughter of John and Grace (Weichers) Freese at Fern, Iowa. Vaneda graduated from Grundy Center High School in 1951. On November 8, 1952, she entered into marriage to Dennis D. Huisman at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Dennis passed away on November 4, 1968. They had two children Kathy and Steve. Vaneda later married Elwood "Red" Doyen on October 30, 1981, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wellsburg, Iowa.
Vaneda lived her life growing up on the farm in the Holland area and in Wellsburg. She was employed at Farmers Savings bank in Grundy Center, Iowa from 1951 to 1955. Vaneda raised her children and went to work after Dennis passed, working at Peoples Saving bank in Wellsburg from 1969 to 1990. Vaneda was a long-time member of Wellsburg Reformed Church and the ladies group. Vaneda and "Red" enjoyed traveling on many bus trips and fishing trips to Canada and Minnesota. She liked reading and stitching, making baby quilts for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Vaneda is survived by her children; daughter Kathy Ryerson of Wellsburg, son, Steve (Glenda) Huisman of Jewell; stepchildren; Ginny (Rick) Groninga and Julie (Myles) Meyer, all of Wellsburg, many grandchildren and great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Dennis D. Huisman, husband; "Red" Doyen, brothers, Harley, Clarence, Wendo, Melvin, Arnold, and Kenneth.
A visitation and gathering of family and friends will be held from 9:30am to 11:00am on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at the Wellsburg Reformed Church in Wellsburg, IA. Funeral service will follow at 11:30am. Vaneda will be laid to rest in the Wellsburg Reformed Cemetery next to husband Dennis D. Huisman.
