Mrs. Velma M. Bentley, 79, of Box Springs, GA, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, November 25, 2024, at Oakland Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. David Chapman officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the graveside. Honorary pallbearers are Bert Veal, Rodney Stevenson, William Stevenson, Keith Stevenson, Jeffrey Snider, Stewart Snider, and Allen Veal, Jr.
Mrs. Bentley was born January 15, 1945, in Columbus, GA, to Bert Veal and Mary Green Veal. She was a member of Oakland Baptist Church and enjoyed traveling, reading, and watching the Western channel movies in her spare time. Mrs. Bentley adored her grandchildren and thought they were a gift from God. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Bentley, by a daughter, Teresa Denise “Tina” Bentley, and her beloved dog, Rocky.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Robert Miller of Mauk, GA; two granddaughters, Tasha and Miguel Figueroa and Jenna and Alex Fanning all of Columbus, GA; a brother and sister-in-law, Mr. Bert Allen Veal, Sr. and his wife Frances of Box Springs, GA; two sisters, Mrs. Irene Snider of Box Springs, GA, and Mrs. Barbara Stevenson of Laurens, SC; by four great-grandsons, Peyton Morrison, Ryder Morrison, Landon Hamby, and Truett Fanning; her adopted daughter and caregiver, Donna and several nieces and nephews.
Way-Watson Funeral Home, 1052 Dr. Deryl Hart Road, Buena Vista, Georgia has been entrusted with these arrangements.
