In Loving Memory of Venancio “Ven” Sioson Samala April 28, 1929 – August 2, 2025 Age 96
Venancio Sioson Samala, affectionately known as Ven, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, at the age of 96.
Born on April 28, 1929, in Balanga, Bataan, Philippines, Ven was the son of Feliciano Samala and Brigida Sioson. He graduated from Arellano Memorial High School in Manila in 1947 and later earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Mapua Institute of Technology in 1952.
A proud veteran, Ven served four years in the United States Navy as an enlisted serviceman, serving as steward. He also earned the Navy Good Conduct Medal.
In 1955, he married the love of his life, Corazon Guzman Samala, in New York City. They shared 67 wonderful years together before her passing in 2022.
Ven built a lifelong career as a chemical engineer before retiring. Outside of work, he enjoyed gardening, fishing, and traveling—always finding joy in simple pleasures and new experiences.
Above all, Ven was a devoted family man. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren never failed to bring joyful smiles to his face. Being surrounded by family was his greatest source of happiness.
Ven is survived by his three children: Maria Moschel (Richard) of Lake Hopatcong, NJ; Roberto Samala (Victoria) of Rio Rancho, NM; Corazon Gaglio (Paul) of Englewood, NJ; and his niece, Nona Arcebido. He was a proud grandfather to Lauren, Jaclyn, Alec, Paul, Jeffery, Amanda, Gabrielle, and Esperanza, and a beloved great-grandfather to Riley, Kennedy, Cole, Stella, Penelope, Cade, Sami, Niko and Zion Venancio.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Corazon Samala; father, Feliciano Samala; mother, Brigida Sioson; and sister, Josefina Arcebido.
A Catholic memorial service will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Daniels Family Funeral Home, located at 4310 Sara Rd SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.
Ven’s legacy of love, strength, and kindness will live on through the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
