Venessa Renee Cobbs, passed away unexpectedly the evening of March 19 th 2024 at her
home. She was only 62 years old. Her family is deeply saddened by her sudden death.
Our beloved Venessa is survived by her mother Mary L. Alberty; her children Bryan A. Cobbs
and Sharita Cobbs. Forever remembered by her siblings Sonya A. Ekee, Cecil L. Alberty Jr.
and Gina Alberty. Eternally loved by her grandchildren Bryanna A. Cobbs, Cartier M.M
Hubbard, Elijiah C. Johnson, Bobby Parker and her partner of 12 years Greg Bolder. Always
remembered by a host of Aunts, Uncles nieces, nephews, cousins and life long friends Sherri,
Carla and Chrissy.
Venessa was preceded in death by her father Cecil L. Alberty Sr., sister Angela V. Okpagu,
nephew Jaun A. Okpagu and great niece Nala A. Woods and a host of beloved extended
family.
Venessa was born from the union of Cecil L. Alberty Sr. & Mary Alberty. She grew up in
Kansas City, MO where she was astute student and attended Richardson Elementary, Central
Middle and Paseo High School of Kansas City, MO. Shortly after she started her career as a
typist at the age of 18 with the US Government. Later she served as secretary and
administrative assistant with the EPA. Venessa then transitioned and worked as an
Administative Officer for the USDA ending her 44 year career with the US Government and
retiring June 2023.
Venessa was always quiet, soft spoken and kind hearted at her core. She took on and
excelled at many of her personal passions. One of which included baking & cake decorating.
She had an incredible artistic talent and quickly became the family go to for any and all
celebration cakes. Venessa had a great eye for detail which included not only cakes but
interior decorating as well, she left her mark on many homes. She was the biggest KC Chiefs
fan, attending may games with her partner Greg and would never miss a tailgate party.
Venessa also adored her grandchildren, there was nothing she wouldn't do to put a smile on
their faces. She was a loyal and devoted daughter helping to take care of not only her
grandchildren but also nieces, nephews and her aging parents, always the caretaker.
Venessa was a beautiful person inside and out. Her smile would draw you in, her laugh would
light up a room. She cared so deeply for the people around her and was so kind and
passionate. Vanessa's life and experiences impacted many, we will carry those memories
and cherish them. Although she is gone, she will never be forgotten. Until we meet again.
On behalf of our family, we wish to express our deepest appreciation for your love and
support.
