Vera L. (Hill) Ferry, 87, of Latrobe, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Westmoreland Manor.
Born November 6, 1937, in Derry, she was the daughter of the late Joseph R. Hill Sr. and Thelma A. (Kelly) Hill.
Vera was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Youngstown and a member of its Rosary Altar Society. Throughout the years, she worked at the Latrobe Senior Center and Sacred Heart School Cafeteria. A member of the Punxsutawney Polka Club, she enjoyed dancing with her husband. One of her other favorite pastimes was playing cards.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Royal W. Ferry Jr., on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2006.
Vera is survived by two sons, Royal W. Ferry III, and his wife, Patty, of Youngstown and Stanley E. Ferry, and his wife, Kimberly, of Youngstown; four brothers, Joseph R. Hill Jr., and his wife, Carol, of Derry, Richard D. Hill of Florida, Charles E. Hill, and his wife, Karen, of New Derry, and George L. Hill, and his wife, Susan, of Erie; two sisters, Sandy L. Weimer, and her husband, John, of Stahlstown and Cindy L. Rhoades, and her husband, Robert, of Blairsville; 11 grandchildren, Royal W. Ferry IV (Amber), Christine Asbee (Josh), Kathryn Ferry (Dave), Philip Ferry (Samantha), Ashley Ferry (John), Samantha Harp (Luis), Stanley Ferry (Laci), Brandon Ferry, Mia Rosner (Alex), Christopher Ferry (Erica), and Parker Vogel; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received from Noon to 3 PM Sunday at the Lopatich-Brinker Funeral Home, LLC, 601 Weldon Street, Latrobe. A funeral service will be held at 3 PM Sunday in the funeral home with Pastor Steve Hospodar officiating. Private interment will be at St. Vincent Cemetery.
