Verl Oma Bechtel Born September 9. 1937 in Venice Utah to Oma Eugene Bechtel and Flora Mae Reeves, age 87 of Reno, Nevada passed away March 11. 2025 peacefully in his home.
Verl is survived by his 4 children: Launa Lee Melody of Nampa, Idaho Del Ray (Peggy) Bechtel of Sacramento, California, Verlene Carver of Reno, Nevada and LeAnn (Ron) Berriesford of Reno, Nevada and his 10 Grandchildren and 19 Great Grandchildren
Verl was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and one of the best friend's you could ever ask for, and he had so many friend's who loved and admired him.
Verl worked many jobs, including serving in the 213th Field Artillery Battalion with The Utah National Guard in Richfield Utah from 1955-1957. He worked at and Managed many gas stations including Richfield Utah, Las Vegas and Reno, Nevada and one which he met the Main Thunderbird Pilot after word of mouth about how exceptional Verl took pride and was the best in what he did. Upon that Verl was recognized and given 2 tickets for him and his wife Louise Bechtel to sit front row with the pilots for their show and became good friends with every single Thunderbird Pilot even receiving there pictures with all there autographs. Verl and his wife Louise Bechtel also worked and managed many campgrounds, including Washington, Oregon, and California, from 1978-1987.
Verl worked at The Washoe County Sheriff's Office starting in 1972 where he starting off in traffic and many many more divisions which in end included him as a Deputy in the CSI Division and was one of the ultimate best in his job and didn't go unnoticed. Verl was given so many awards and was truly recognized. Verl then retired in 2005 to help his daughter Verlene Carver with her husband and his son in law Paul Alan Carver, who passed in 2005 after being diagnosed with ALS. Verl worked as an Elder in The Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-Day Saints and was a firm believer in his faith. Verl also played Baseball for The Church in 1975 and loved his baseball, softball, and his favorite the Dodgers. He was a man with many roles and was the best at everything he did. Verl will truly be missed by so many and truly lived his life to the fullest and now can rest in peace with the love of his life and wife for almost 70 years Louise Bechtel.
There will be a small service held in his memory on April 19, 2025, at 2 pm. at The Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-Day Saints located at 570 E. 4th Ave Sun Valley NV 89433
