1937-2025
Evelyn Marie Hamner, 87, passed away peacefully into The Lords arms at her home in Reno, NV on March 18, 2025. Evelyn was born on May 1, 1937 in Malden, Massachusetts to Daniel Archibald and Eleanor Frances MacDonald.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Eleanor Frances Buswell, and her nephews Daniel and Ronald Frances.
Evelyn is survived by her husband of 68 years, Kenneth L. Hamner, her beloved son MacDonald "Mickey" Hamner (Vickie), grandchildren Julie White, Kenneth Hamner (Melissa), great grandchildren, Ashley Kindelberger (Nathan), Mikayla Hamner, Haley Hamner, Alyssa Kresge, Trevor Hamner, Hunter Hamner, and great great granddaughter Opal.
Sister Donna Pimpao (William), nephews Steven O'Leary, Michael Pimpao, niece Laura Francis, along with other numerous family members.
In 1957 Evelyn married Kenneth. The following year, in 1958, she welcomed a baby boy, MacDonald. He was the only child of Evelyn and the apple of her eye.
Evelyn, along with her husband and son, moved to California shortly after the birth of her son, to be closer to her sister Eleanor. Evelyn resided in California almost 40 years before relocating to Reno, Nevada.
Evelyn loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and she never missed any opportunity to share her testimony and faith with others. Evelyn hosted and attended many Bible Studies, continuing to bring others to Christ. Evelyn was a prayer warrior for her family and her many friends. Evelyn grew in her knowledge of the Bible and would spend countless hours with her grandson Kenny, where they would read and study God's word together.
Evelyn was a walking testimony of God's love, mercy, and miraculous healing in her life. God first demonstrated His power in her life by completely healing her stage four cancer over 50 years ago. Evelyn used the additional 50+ years God had extended to her by spreading the Gospel of Christ to everyone she encountered. God continued to bless her
by allowing her to watch many loved ones accept Christ as their Savior, including her beloved son.
Evelyn was instrumental in praying for and sharing God's word with her young grandson. She felt blessed to see Kenny answer God's calling to serve the Lord by preaching Gods word and leading others to Christ at Narrow Way Bible Church in Boise, Idaho. Evelyn never missed an opportunity to take her young grandson with her to hear the teachings of many well known Evangelists and Theologians. These were special times that she was able to share these eternal and valuable truths with him and grow in the Lord together. Evelyn's testimony and faith in the Lord has created a ripple effect. The people she led to the Lord are now serving the Lord and leading others to the hope of salvation through Jesus. The impact of Evelyn's choice to follow Jesus and to live for Him will continue to spread far beyond her legacy.
Evelyn at age 87 was able to recount every detail from the many memories of her life. God was so kind to allow her to be able to recall these special moments, which brought her so much joy when talking about them. Her priority was and still is to bring Glory to God!
Evelyn loved spending time with her family, especially time with Mickey, who adored her. They shared many holidays, birthday celebrations, family vacations, water skiing, house boating, camping trips, and vacations to Florida together. These memories will forever be treasured in the hearts of her family. Evelyn always knew how to get people roaring with laughter and was such a good sport. From ice cream on her white pants, to Goofy messing up her hair, she always lived life with a smile on her face and joy in her heart.
Evelyn "Grammy" was a fun Great Grandma. She would watch many "shows" her Grandchildren would make-up and perform for her. She would always be the first to sit down to watch them and share a big applause at the end. Grammy was the Great Grandma who would get down on the floor to play and listen attentively to all her great grandchildren's stories and talk with them.
Evelyn was a servant of Jesus. At the end of her life, she was so surprised and happy to learn that the Lord had used her to lead so many members of her family and friends to the knowledge and love of Christ. She was always humble and didn't realize the impact her faith had on her family and friends' lives, as she was simply living for Him.
Evelyn found great joy and peace talking about the Lord with her son, Mickey, as they visited and prayed together. Evelyn was so happy with the scriptures her son shared with her about her next adventure with the Lord. She was filled with overwhelming joy as her son held her hand and prayed over her.
Evelyn felt complete peace and confidence that she would soon be with her Lord and Savior. She was looking forward to being reunited with the loved ones who passed before her, and at peace knowing that someday her son would be reunited with her again in heaven.
Evelyn was a devoted and loving sister to Eleanor and Donna. She was a kind and genuine friend to all, with a servants heart. If anyone needed anything, Evelyn would be the first to help.
The last years of her life Evelyn battled Parkinson's disease. With grace she continued life with a joyful heart and kindness to those around her. She continued serving Christ's ministry by being a light and testimony of Him to all of her caretakers, neighbors, and friends.
On March 18, 2025, in the arms of Jesus, Evelyn went to spend her eternal life in Heaven with her Savior.
Evelyn's legacy and memory will forever be in her family's hearts. Imagine how awestruck Evelyn must have felt when all her hopes became reality as she met her GLORIOUS LORD face to face.
Revelation 21:3-5 "And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, 'Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.' And He who sits on the throne said, 'Behold, I am making all things new.'"
