Vernene Butler

An amazing musician who loved to share her many talents with anyone who asked, Vernene Joyce Butler passed away on October 6th, 2023, in Lindon, Utah. Vernene lifted and inspired us with this amazing musical gift she was given. She was born in Gridley, California to Marion and Vern "Jimmy" Passmore who precedes her in death.
From the time Vernene was a small child her life has been filled with music and performing. She was given excellent training and was able to develop into a very accomplished musician playing for church, weddings, funerals, and numerous musical productions. She had the gift of "expression" when playing and was known for her soft touch and feeling on the piano and organ.
As a teen, Vernene performed with a country dance band that did a weekly radio broadcast. She loved being part of such a prestigious group. With her many extracurricular activities she still managed to graduate from High School with honors. While attending BYU she met and married her husband, Dennis. Soon after they graduated, she accompanied him to Indonesia and many foreign lands as he served as the Vice Consulate General for the Canadian Government. While In Indonesia the Prophet, President Benson stayed with them when he came to dedicate the land for missionary work. Vernene spoke of many miracles that happened during that time and felt very blessed to be a part of this sacred event.
She continued to share her musical abilities with each church ward she lived in as well as many community productions in both Concord, California and Lindon, Utah specifically.
Vernene and Dennis were blessed with adopting 3 children Brad, Jeff and Sarinah. She gave of herself every day to each of them and continued to give to her 7 grandkids and 4 great grandkids.
Vernene lived an exemplary life with a strong love for the lord, family, and others she associated with. Countless hours were spent serving and giving of herself, unselfishly and with love.
She is survived by her siblings Stephen (Elizabeth) Passmore and Lawna Dewsnup. Her children Jeff Butler, Sarinah Thompson and her daughter in law Rosana Butler. Her grandkids Jessica and Becky Butler. Logan (Sherri) Butler and Courtney Butler. Jake (Kayla) Thompson, Graycee (Kade) Delaplaine and Kaydi Thompson. Her great grandkids Olivia, Jenna, Alexander and Bridger.
Vernene is preceded in death by her husband Dennis and oldest son Brad.
We know that our loving Heavenly Father will greet her with open arms saying, "well done, thy good and faithful servant."
