Veronica Long

Veronica Hall Long, age 100, of Roxboro, died on Sunday, July 30, 2023. Born in Person County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Albert Hall and Josephine Addie Newton. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Lester Long, Jr., three brothers, J.D. Hall, Clarence Hall, and Frank Hall. Four sisters, Eleanor Hall, Josephine H. Gentry, Katie Sue Hall Perkins, Sarah Hall Pennington, and also son-in-law, Radford Garrett, and grandson, Carl Garrett.
Veronica was an active and involved church member and trustee at First Baptist Church of Henderson, NC, she also enjoyed being a member of the Woodland Garden Club, and working with the Board of Elections for 35 years.
Surviving are her three children, Nancy Long Garrett of Roxboro, Ken Long (Jody) of Henderson, and Vivian Long Hill (John) of Marion, VA. Sister, Barbara H. Jones of Roxboro; brothers, Dr. Norman Hall (Joyce) of Roxboro, and Keith Hall of Greensboro; seven granchildren, Janet White (Dale), Bert Long (Jennifer), Joey Long (Ashley), Marian Tucker (Chance), Johnny Winters (Kelly), Matthew Winters (Jessica), Becky VanWickler (Eric) and great-grandchildren, Tyler White, Carson Long, Maddox Long, Maddrey Long, Mason Long, Garrison Tucker, Keats Tucker, Cerilene Tucker, Lucus Winters, Elliot Winters, Lily Winters, Leigha Winters, and Samantha Winters also survive.
A funeral service will be held 11AM Monday, August 7, 2023 at the Brooks and White Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Dupree Sanders, Dr. Ron Cava, and Dr. Matthew Winters officiating. Interment will take place following the service at the Person Memorial Cemetery. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at 10AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Henderson, P.O. Box 75, Henderson, NC 27536, or to a charity of your choice.
