Vicki Jill Veith (Austin), born January 3, 1954 to Donald and Jeanette Austin, died February 27, 2025 at Burcham Hills Rehab Center. The Austins moved to Laingsburg in 1964. Vicki was Salutatorian of the graduating class of 1972 from Laingsburg High School. Sweethearts from the age of 12, she and the love of her life, Dean Veith, were married on August 3, 1974 at Laingsburg's Methodist Church and they made their forever home at 413 E 2nd North Street, in Laingsburg. Their family grew with the addition of three daughters, Kelly, Kerry, and Kammy.
Vicki worked part time as an Assistant Librarian for a combined 20 years for the Laingsburg Public Library. Vicki enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles and competing with Jeopardy contestants from the comfort of her living room. Vicki enjoyed reading so much that she documented finishing countless titles, totaling an approximate 20,000 books in her lifetime.
Vicki is survived by her husband Dean, with whom she celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 2024. She is also survived by her children, Kelly (Dan) McMaster, Kerry (Heath) Sherman, and Kammy Veith; her siblings Donna (Bob) Sattler, Rick (Sofia) Austin, Don (Tracy) Austin; her grandchildren Harrison & Tristan Sherman, Dean, Gabby & Teague McMaster, and Gracie Welch. Vicki is survived by many beloved in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Donald Austin & Jeanette (Parker) Austin, and the oldest of her siblings, Gaylord Austin.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, March 6, 2025, with visitation at 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM, and service at 11:30 AM, at the Laingsburg United Methodist Church at 210 N. Crum Street, Laingsburg, MI 48848.
