On the quiet evening of January 20, 2024 surrounded by her family, our beloved Vickie Lynn Adamson returned to the embrace of her loving parents and Father in Heaven. Vickie was born on August 28, 1948 in Murray, Utah to her parents Violet (Polson) and Lloyd Eatchel. Vickie was a surprise to her parents, coming into their lives in their forties. She had three older brothers, William (Billy), Ralph (Corky), and Jack (Jackie). Growing up in rural Murray, Vickie was surrounded by life. She was raised on farmland and worked with her father and brothers to take care of the animals and plant life they were responsible for. She had a deep love of nature and animals and had many fond memories of life on the farm.
When she was 16, she met Scott Adamson at a friend's party. They instantly connected and began a whirlwind romance. Scott left to serve his country in Vietnam from 1967-1969 and Vickie waited patiently for him. "Separation is to love as wind is to fire, it inflames the great and extinguishes the small." They were madly in love and she knew he was worth waiting for. When he got home, they were married on November 4, 1969, surrounded by their loved ones. Soon, they welcomed their son Jaren Scott Adamson into the world in January 1972. It was the three of them against the world until September 1973 when their daughter Marnie Lynn Adamson was born. The family of four lived a life filled with a wonderful rambunctious combination of quiet and chaos. As their family grew, Vickie did too. She became a loving mother to more than just her
own children. One of Vickie's favorite things was making people smile. For many years she worked as a teacher and assistant in Special Education classrooms, connecting with students of all backgrounds and abilities; Many of which she kept in contact with until several years before her passing. To know Vickie was to love Vickie and she loved you, deeply too.
Jaren married Jessica Wardell in January 1994 and brought in her son TJ, Marnie married Greggory Mounteer in October 1999 and brought in Brittany, Maegen, and Payton. Jaren's first child Jeremiah was born in February 1999. In the following years Marnie's children, Madilyn (2000), Jaxon (2003), and Bryson (2007) were born. Following Jessica's death in 2007, Jaren married Shandi Merritt in May 2010. Being a grandparent was a new level of love and pride for Vickie. She loved her family fiercely. She also was a lucky grandparent to 9 step grandchildren and a great grandparent to 12 step great-grandchildren.
Vickie was kind, smart, gentle, loving, wickedly funny, a greenthumb, and many other wonderful things, but most importantly she was a mother and a grandmother. Everything she did in life was for those she loved. She loved her pets, many dogs and one single cat. She loved growing things and seeing life sprout from the smallest seed, she nurtured a great garden wherever she went. She loved teaching, and taught all of her grandchildren in "Grandma School" years after she retired; Teaching them the alphabet, basic mathematics, painting, reading, and many other valuable skills. She loved to spend time with her friends and family.
Vickie is preceded in death by her parents Violet and Lloyd, her three brothers, her mother and father-in-law, sister-in-law Penny, and her daughter-in-law Jessica. She is survived by her husband Scott, her son Jaren (Shandi), her daughter Marnie (Gregg), and her four grandchildren: Jeremiah, Maddie (Sean), Jaxon, and Bryson. As well as her 9 step-grandchildren: Brittany, Maegen, Payton, TJ, Zachary, Acacia, Ashley, Malori, and Noah. And her 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens at 2:00 PM on Friday January 26, 2024 (1950 E 10600 S, Sandy, UT 84092).
