With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Vicky H. Moody, a beloved dance teacher in Greenville, South Carolina, who brought joy to the community through her passion for dance. Vicky, born on March 2, 1943, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 10, 2024.
A Greenville native, Vicky was the first born daughter of the late Norman Hindman and Margaret Cater Fortune.
Vicky dedicated her life to dance, owning and teaching at Vicky's School of Dance and Dance Explosion for an impressive 60 years. She was an inspiring figure in the dance world, sharing her expertise in tap, jazz, clogging, ballet, hip-hop, and lyrical dance with generations of children in Greenville. For many years, Vicky traveled the country teaching with Dance Makers Dance Convention. She leaves behind a legacy of talent and creativity, touching the hearts of countless students and their families with her vibrant spirit and dedication to dance.
Vicky is survived by three sons, Shane A. Moody, Lance B. Moody (Lori), Hayes G. Moody; two daughters, Angie Smith and Sabrina Stone; eight grandchildren, Jennings, Alex, Harper, Logan, Luke, Lawson, Hayden, Haley, and a great-grandchild, Lily; along with her sister, Dawn Fletcher.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. on Monday, July 15, 2024 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Southeast. The funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. in the Mausoleum Chapel of Graceland East Memorial Park.
May her love for dance continue to inspire and uplift all those whose lives she has touched. Vicky's legacy of grace, creativity, and love for dance will forever remain in our hearts.

I worked as a caregiver for Ms. Vicky and my favorite memory was singing to her as she fell asleep the song that goes "look like an angel walk like an angel" because she looked like an angel when she was asleep
