Vincent DiLemme, 93, of Ashtabula, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, October 16, 2025. Born in Isernia, Italy, on June 23, 1932, Vincent was the son of the late Antimina (Avicolli) and Angelo DiLemme. He immigrated to the United States in 1949, proudly becoming a citizen in 1957. Education was a lifelong priority for Vincent, and upon arriving in America, he studied at St. John's, Ashtabula High School, and then graduated from American School. On October 15, 1955, Vincent married the love of his life, Olympia Marie Azzano. Together, they celebrated 70 years of marriage just one day before his passing-a testament to their enduring devotion. Vincent built a remarkable career, beginning as a tool and die maker with New York Central Railroad for 14 years, and later working in the lab at Rockwell International for 26 years until his retirement in 1987. He also lent his talents to Vincent's Auto Garage, Vendetti Landscaping, Don Rathbun's Tool and Die, and helped manage the family's rental properties alongside Olympia Marie. A pillar of the community, Vincent was deeply involved in numerous organizations. He served as a trustee of the Enrico Fermi Lodge, assistant Boy Scout Leader of Troop #26, Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus (1987–1988), and later received honorary membership in 2007. He was also a member of the Leo J. Kane Assembly, Past Financial Secretary, and Past President of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America, Lake Erie Lodge #184. Vincent was a former member of the Winnebago Recreational Vehicle Club, the Downtown Investment Club, and served faithfully as an usher at St. Joseph Church. Vincent and Olympia shared a love for travel, living 18 joyful years in Florida before settling back in Ashtabula in 2013. He was an avid golfer, often playing daily, and cherished time fishing with his children and grandchildren. He found joy in camping, bocce, poker, shuffleboard, and card games, and had a passion for reading, collecting classic films, gardening, and crafting topiaries. His appreciation for opera, Italian music, and classical compositions reflected his deep cultural roots. Most of all, he cherished the time he spent with his family. Vincent is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Olympia Marie; his children, Harry (Carolyn Marie) DiLemme and Carolyn (David) Sheldon; grandchildren, Daniel Sheldon, Julianne Sheldon, John Sheldon, Kristy (Trent) Gould, Tim (Terri) Sheldon, Caitlyn DiLemme, Olivia DiLemme, Andrew Westerburg, Ryan Westerburg; brother in law, Mike (Hilda) Azzano; sister-in-law, Mary Azzano; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, whom he adored. He was preceded in death by his siblings Maria Assunta "Sue" (Ralph) Bernardo, Anna (Josip) Rampini, Guy (Antonette) DiLemme, Carmen (Lucia) DiLemme, and John (Anna Marie) DiLemme; step-grandchildren, Andy Sheldon, Sean Sheldon and Misty Sheldon; as well as his parents. Vincent's legacy of love, service, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025 at 2PM at OLOP, Mt Carmel Church, 1200 E. 21st St., Ashtabula, with Father Connor Hetzel officiating. He will be entombed at Greenlawn Memory Gardens in North Kingsville. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 1PM until the time of mass 2PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to St. John's School, or Our Lady of Peace Parish. Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 W.
