Violet Louise Sterbenz

Violet L. Sterbenz, 82, of Scottsdale, AZ passed away peacefully with her family by her side on October 4, 2023. Violet was born in Brooklyn, NY, on July 14, 1941, to Anthony and Violetta Sormani. Violet was married to Rudy on August 4, 1962, in Kansas. They moved to Scottsdale in 1968 with their five young children where Violet was a dedicated stay-at-home mom who everyone in the neighborhood knew and loved.
Violet, beloved wife and devoted sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, was preceded in death by her husband Rudy, son David, parents Anthony and Violetta Sormani and brother Anthony Sormani. She is survived by her children Rudy (Sabrina), Stephen (Cipriana), Patty (Forrest), and Michael (Phuong); thirteen grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren; brothers Robert (Cotty) Sormani and Dennis Sormani and many nieces and nephews. Violet was a lifelong devoted Catholic and member of St. Daniel the Prophet Catholic Church. She was a Eucharistic Minister for many years and volunteered at the Senior Center.
Violet enjoyed baking and was well-known for her famous homemade Christmas cookie trays she made each year for family and friends. Violet loved to travel with Rudy, pulling their little Casita trailer across the United States while always mailing special letters and pictures to their grandchildren. Grandma Vi enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren: playing games, riding scooters, making nut bread, visiting the zoo, sewing special pillows, attending their school events and the list goes on. She had a special place in her heart for all of her grand dogs and every dog she met on her daily walks around the neighborhood.
Funeral services will be held at St. Daniel the Prophet Catholic Church, 1030 N. Hayden Road, Scottsdale on October 16, at 10:30 am, preceded by visitation at 9:30 and rosary at 10:00. After the service, burial will be at St. Francis Cemetery, 2033 N. 48th Street, Phoenix. Please join the family for a reception following the burial (location to be announced).
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Vincent de Paul or St. Daniel the Prophet Catholic Church.
