Virginia "Ginny" Lee Martin Daw 85, of Fishers, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2010. She was born July 27, 1924 in Indianapolis to the late Judge Clarence R. and Nellie L. Martin. She graduated from Shortridge High School in 1941 and from Western College for Women in Oxford, Ohio in 1945. On May 25, 1946 she married Jack C. Daw, who preceded her in death in 2008 after 62 years of marriage. Virginia was a stay-at-home mom. In her spare time she started entering contests and was very successful in winning quite a few prizes, including three cars, over many years. She was active in her Presbyterian church serving as a Sunday School teacher, Deacon and a volunteer at its Vivian-Smith house-- where babies and toddlers were cared for while mothers attended high schools. She became an avid golfer and won many trophies, including one for a hole-in-one! She enjoyed traveling to visit relatives and attending reunions of Jack s WWII Bomber Wing. She was a member of the First Meridian Heights Presbyterian Church and a 50+ year member of the Chapter BI P.E.O. sisterhood. Virginia is survived by her children, Susan Gernhardt (Wally), Carmel, IN; Nancy Daw (Stephen Hoback), Indianapolis; Jacqueline Mullen (Patrick), Scottsdale, AZ; Jeffrey Daw (Jane), Knightstown, IN and Marjorie Moring (Pete) Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Cynthia Hovey(Keith Jones) Carmel, IN; Christopher Hovey (Samantha), Sheridan, IN; Andrea Bonham (Christopher), Indianapolis; Bridget Harada (Yogi), Miami, FL; Erin Mullen, Scottsdale, AZ; Jessica Daw, St. Petersburg, FL; Gregory Bratton, Littleton, CO; and Joshua, Emily and Brian Daw all of Greenfield, IN; eight great-grandchildren; and sister Claribel Stewart, Indianapolis. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by grandson, Christopher Bratton, sister Jane Binford and brother Edmund Martin. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center, 325 E. Carmel Drive. A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, March 12, 2010 at the funeral home. A burial of cremated remains will follow at a later date in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer s Association.
