Virginia Ann "Ginny" Jakoubek, residing in Granger, IN passed away Monday evening, February 3, 2025 at Memorial Hospital of South Bend at the age of 68 years old.
She was born September 17, 1956 in Oak Park, IL, a daughter of the late Roy & Marita (Smith) Lesak and has lived in this community for the past 24 years. On December 6, 1975 in LaGrange Park, IL, she was united in marriage to Randall J. Jakoubek, who has been the love of her life for the past 49 years. Along with her loving husband Randy, she is survived by her daughter Julie Jakoubek of New York, her son Daniel Jakoubek of San Francisco, CA; her grandson, Buffalo Jakoubek, her daughter-in-law, Mackenzie Jakoubek, and her two sisters, Lori Lesak of Cincinnati, OH and Barb (Dave, deceased) Karlin of Half Moon Bay, CA. A whole host of very beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and 'adopted' kids also mourn her passing.
Ginny graduated from Triton University in River Grove, IL and has worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for many years, having last worked at the Main Street Medical Group-Memorial in Granger. She was an active member of Clay Church where she worked with the Food Pantry and her "Soup Sisters". She was also a Stephen Ministry Leader and worked with the homeless.
She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and very active in family genealogy, known to spend a lot of time on "Find a Grave", traveling the country to photograph graves to aid others in their research.
Ginny's interests were vast, finding joy in music, musical theater, scouring beaches for the best rocks, and always enjoying a coastal sunset. Her collections of Nativity Scenes and Santas could fill dozens of Christmas markets and there was always a new treasure to be found antiquing.
Family and friends may gather from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Rd., South Bend, and one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Clay Church, 52866 North Ironwood Rd., South Bend. Rev. Brian Durand and Rev. Cindy Ulhrich will officiate.
Contributions in memory of Ginny may be offered to Clay Church Food Pantry. Online condolences to the family may be sent to www.palmerfuneralhomes.com
