It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Virginia Lee Janelle "Vi," who peacefully left us on September 17, 2025, just two days after celebrating her 84th birthday. Born on September 15, 1941, in Roseboro, North Carolina, to the late Belton and Sadie Willoughby Wright, Vi lived a life full of love, grace, and unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Vi was more than just a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother; she was the heart and soul of her family. Her love for those she held dear knew no bounds, and her presence was always a source of warmth and strength. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen & Kyle Wilson, her daughter Sandy Spano, and a devoted circle of grandchildren: Jennifer Ryan, Christina Glasper, Alicia Janelle, Brandon Janelle, Tori Janelle, Krissy Craig, Lindsey Gibbs, and Jessica Mankovitch, as well as 11 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Vi was preceded in death by her beloved son, Eddie, whose memory she carried with her every day of her life.
Vi's professional career in corporate security was marked by dedication and excellence. She worked for many years at Travelers Insurance Company and Recall Total Information Management, where her sharp expertise in risk assessment made a lasting impact. Beyond her work, she had a passionate love for history, especially the Civil War, and was known for sharing captivating stories that reflected her deep knowledge. Her love for John Wayne and Elvis added a spark of joy and enthusiasm to every conversation. Vi also had a special, comforting bond with her loyal dog, Honda, who was a constant companion and source of joy.
Raised in a large, loving family with six brothers and two sisters, Vi's strong sense of independence, resilience, and compassion were values instilled in her from a young age. Her zest for life and her ability to face every challenge with grace and determination inspired all who knew her.
As we grieve the loss of this remarkable woman, let us also celebrate the incredible legacy she leaves behind-a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering independence. Vi's presence in our lives will forever be cherished, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. May we carry forward her legacy of kindness, faith, and family, and may we find comfort in knowing that her love will never be far from us.
Rest in peace, Vi. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
