Virginia Carol (Simms) Sharp, 96, of Conrad passed away Sunday September 21, 2025, at Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad. Virginia was a lifelong resident in the Beaman and Conrad communities and had been a resident at Oakview since July 2019.
Virginia was born May 3, 1929, to Francis Reid Simms and Helen Mae Brumm Simms. She graduated from Beaman High School in 1946, and married James Jay Sharp in 1948. They had five children: Rick Sharp; Tom (Emily) Sharp, Bowling Green, KY; Gregg (Patti) Sharp, Des Moines; Dave (Dori) Sharp, Conrad; and Sara (Jan) Acker, Scottsdale, AZ. Virginia had eleven grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim, eldest child Rick, brother Leo and sister Joan Payne.
She was an avid bridge player in two bridge groups and enjoyed golfing. Virginia was a member of the Beaman Methodist Church, Vienna Cemetery Society, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Memorials may be directed to those organizations or Oakview Nursing Home for activities and social services uses. Virginia chose to donate her body to Des Moines University Medical School and there will be an interment of ashes at a future date.
