Virginia Fay Stewart

Virginia Fay Stewart, lovingly known as Mimi, passed away peacefully of natural causes on Monday, May 12, 2025, in Winter Haven, Florida. She was 99 years old.
Born on October 28, 1925, in Danville, Virginia, Virginia was the daughter of Nellie and Gilbert Herndon. She later moved to Florida, where she graduated from Manatee High School. On August 11, 1946, she married the love of her life, Henry Delmar Stewart, who preceded her in death, along with her brother, P.G. Herndon.
Virginia retired from Montgomery Ward, where she worked with dedication and care. A woman of many talents, she found great joy in sewing, cooking, gardening, and working on crossword puzzles. Her home was always a warm, welcoming place, filled with love, laughter, and the comforting aroma of something delicious on the stove.
She is survived by her children: Henry D. Stewart Jr., Brian W. Stewart, Dale L. Stewart (Grace), Michael E. Stewart (deceased) (Keely), Kathy A. Stewart (Oswalt) (Chris), and Sharon L. Stewart (Doner) (Tracy). Virginia was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Doris McRee.
A viewing will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a chapel service at 12:00 p.m. at Lakeland Funeral Home. A brief graveside interment will follow at Lakeland Memorial Gardens.
Mimi will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her gentle spirit, and her deep love for her family. Her warmth and wisdom touched everyone who knew her, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
