Vivian Baker Sherrell, of Wake Forest, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025. Vivian was a native of The Falls Community, born to Jimmy Garner Baker and Pattie Lee (Mangum) Baker. She was a graduate of Wake Forest High School. After a brief stent at ECU, she returned home and worked at the NCDMV for 30 years. After retirement she sold real estate and then worked as a Legislative Assistant and the NC General Assembly.
She is predeceased by her parents, husband Younge "Ernie" Sherrell and step son, Younge Sherrell Jr.
Vivian is survived by her daughter, Monica Cooper Ford (Derek), step son Patrick Sherrell (Erika), grandchildren Emily Grace, Dylan, and Ashlea Ford, Peyton and Greyson Sherrell and Morgan Benson.
Vivian was well known in the community, a former member for the SECU board in Wake Forest, and a friend to so many. She was the epitome of strength and known for her beautiful smile, kindness, compassion, grace and wit. She was a devoted mother and Mawmaw.
A memorial service will take place at Bright Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at 5 o'clock in the afternoon, with a visitation an hour prior.
