He did not stop there, Wally knew that the park could be used in the winter and helped develop a recreational ice rink for kids during those cold months. His giving heart was a perfect fit for being a lifelong member of McDonald Volunteer Fire Department. Through all his volunteer work Wally made the town of McDonald and even surrounding towns his second family.
Family was his everything. Every choice Wally made in life was always for the betterment of his family. He was devoted to them, all the way to the youngest members today. Wally beamed with pride and joy as he spoke of the many generations within his family, he could not be more proud to watch his family grow into who they are today. He and his late wife, Nancy were so thankful to be such big parts of their children, grandchild and great grandchildren's life, it was truly their biggest blessing.
Surviving are his children, Sherri (late Kurt Ashenfelter) Deveaney, Jim Sturgeon, and Jeffrey (Brenda) Sturgeon, grandchildren, Tim, Brandon (Amanda), and Jeffrey (Allishia) Deveaney, Rachael (Bob) Kelly and Layton Sturgeon, great grandchildren, Patrick and Paislee Kelly, Hayden James Deveaney and Harmony and Kais, and brother, Thomas (Joan) Sturgeon.
