Walter E. Driver II, 63, of South Windsor, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 11, 2024. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Walter was the son of the late Walter E. and Edith (Hager) Driver, and he was the beloved husband of Ngan (Tracy) Nguyen. Walter was a lifelong Connecticut resident who made many close friends along the way. He was a devoted engineer at Metallizing Service, known for his mechanical skills and unwavering dedication. His colleagues admired his ability to tackle challenging problems with creativity and precision. Walter's love for his work was evident, and he took great pride in everything he did.
Walter's passions extended beyond his professional life. He had a deep love for classic cars, motorcycles, was a talented artist, enjoyed cooking, and was known as a mechanical guru-Walter could fix or fabricate anything and had a unique creative imagination.
Those who knew Walter will remember him as a kind, warm soul with a gentle spirit. He had an incredible ability to make those around him feel loved. His infectious smile and generous heart left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He leaves behind his wife, Ngan; his daughters, Erica Messina and her husband Mark of Fairfield, Connecticut, Merissa Driver of Saint Augustine, Florida, and Falyne Driver of West Hartford, Connecticut; his stepdaughter, Marren Collier of Austin, Texas; and his cherished grandchildren, Niccolò and Nova Messina. He is also survived by his brother, David Driver and his wife Kathleen; his sisters, Cara Bride, Mary Stottman and her husband Stephen, and Lisa Sherack and her husband Roger; as well as several nieces and nephews. Walter was predeceased by his children, Jason Matthew and Walter E. Driver III, and his first wife, Gail Matthew Driver.

Walt and Rick were blood brothers from the time they were 11 years old! He was such a kind sole. We had so many memories that I will always cherish.

I had the pleasure of not only speaking with Walter on the phone when he worked with my son, Ryan, but also meeting him at my son's wedding last year. He was such a kind and encouraging man and had a wonderful friendship with my son. I am sorry to hear that he is gone too soon and send my condolences to his family. God Bless, Karen Downing
