Walter Arthur Joseph Koepke

Walter Arthur Joseph Koepke, 81, passed away in Naples, FL on September 17, 2015. Walt was born in Detroit, MI on April 21, 1934. After serving in the Army, Walt attended Wayne State University where he played basketball and baseball. Following graduation, he enjoyed a career as a High School English teacher and Assistant Principal. Walt was a passionate basketball coach that lead to him being inducted into the Michigan High School Coaches Association hall of fame in 1990. He loved all his players like sons and stayed in contact with many of them. He married Helen Hungerink of Zeeland, MI in 1964. While living in Algonac, MI Walt spent many fine days fishing on Lake St. Clair with his family and friends. Walt is survived by his wife, Helen; son Jeff and his wife Lindsay; daughter Jill; and son Jay and his wife Amy. Walt has four grandchildren, Eva Marie, Leo Joseph, Tanner Michael, and Owen Wesley.
