Walter Martin McCusker, a long-time resident of Boxborough, passed away peacefully April 1, 2025 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 66 years old. He was the beloved husband of Linda (Santagate) McCusker to whom he was married 41 years.
Walter was born in Cambridge, son of the late Richard and Janice (Martin) McCusker. He was raised in Belmont and was a graduate of Belmont High School. After their marriage, the McCusker's lived for a time in Belmont before moving to Boxborough where they would raise their family. Walter enjoyed coaching his son's Baseball, Football and Basketball teams. Walter was a dedicated employee of Boston Gas and then National Grid for 37 years. Outside of work, he enjoyed spending time at his home on Cape Cod, where he enjoyed going to the beach, golfing, and working in the yard. More than anything, Walter enjoyed the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Linda, Walter is lovingly survived by his two sons, Jeffrey McCusker and his wife Danielle of Littleton and Matthew McCusker and his wife Stephanie of Lunenburg. He was the loving Papa of Madison and William. He also leaves his siblings Stephen McCusker (Lisa) of Poway, California, Carol Bilello (James) of Smithtown, New York and Richard McCusker (Nancy) of New Hampshire, sister- in-law Judith Berlinghieri (Mario) of Arlington, brother-in-law Frank Santagate (Patti) of Framingham, nieces and nephews, and Aunt Ann McCusker of Falmouth.

We will always remember seeing Walter driving his tractor around the yard at the South Yarmouth home. May the memories you created together give you joy...may the love that surrounds you give you comfort and peace.

Wally McCusker lived an amazing life. He learned life's most important lessons from his loving mother and his Marine Dad. His Jesuit uncle and the rest of his amazing family from the Cook's to the Campbell's, Martin's and McCusker's gave him the tools that he took to heart which left this world a little better. Wally made a difference and he has rightly earned a great heavenly seat next to Janice,Dick,Father Martin SJ and the folks from Corcoran Park. God bless his soul.
