Memorial services for Mr. Walter Ninemire, 84, of Carthage, Texas, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Hawthorn Funeral Home, with Rev. Dale Walker officiating.
Walter Lee Ninemire was born on June 1, 1942, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Alice Lucille Hape and Walter Marion Ninemire. He peacefully passed away on January 3, 2025. Raised and educated in Kansas City, Walter went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Air Force. During the Cold War in Vietnam, he was stationed in Germany, where he worked on the Minuteman missile program.
Following his military service, he moved to Carthage, Texas, where he married the love of his life, Valerie Ann Palmer. Together, they shared 45 wonderful years, building a life centered around family and raising their two children.
Walter dedicated his career to both the cattle industry and medical sales, working throughout Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas. He was a proud member of Carthage Masonic Lodge #521 and deeply valued the friendships he made along the way. An avid outdoorsman, Walter found great joy in hunting from his deer stand and fishing with his grandchildren, creating cherished memories with those he loved most.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Valerie. Walter leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, survived by his daughter, Dedra Haynie, and her two children, Jackson and Juliet Haynie; his son, Walter Zachary Ninemire, and his wife, Megan, along with their three children, Caleb, Mallory, and Ryan Ninemire. He is also survived by numerous other relatives and a host of dear friends who will miss him greatly.
An online guestbook is available for condolences at www.hawthornfuneralhome.com.
Walter will be remembered for his kindness, strong work ethic, and love for his family. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
