Wanda Eileen Evans, 88, of Fall River, KS, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Morningstar Care Homes, Fredonia. Wanda was born on September 26, 1934, in Severy, KS the daughter of Raymond and Ena (Johnson) Henderson.
After graduation from Severy High School, Wanda worked in a bank in Wichita. On October 6, 1954, she married Robert L. "Bob" Evans in Severy. They lived in Fall River, began farming and started their family. Wanda continued her banking career at Fall River State Bank for many years.
Wanda served numerous years as a 4-H Leader and Fair Superintendent. She was a very dedicated Fall River Booster Club member and supporter of the Fall River BBQ from the 1st year to the 57th year.
Wanda owned and operated the D & B Grocery Store for many years. During this time she helped many people out with groceries and advice. She tried to make everyone feel welcomed and a part of the Fall River (family) community.
Wanda was an avid sports fan, she was a true K-State fan, but her most favorite sport was whatever her children or grandchildren were in at the time. Wanda was devoted to her family and their activities. She helped with projects and attended all of their academic and athletic events she could get to and this wasn't only for her children, grandchildren or great grandchildren but any kids that she claimed as her own from Fall River and the surrounding area.
In her later years, she went to the grocery store to visit with friends. She also invited her friends over for coffee. She loved going to the pasture with Bob to check cattle and or just going for rides in the countryside. They were married for 64 years until his death on November 19, 2018.
