Watt John Kiser of Carter County, KY went to his heavenly rest on October 13, 2025 at the age of 87. His life was lived as a warrior for the Kingdom of God and was the embodiment of the Marine Corps motto, Semper Fidelis.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Kentucky, before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps as an officer. During his career of 21 years, touring to Vietnam, and Okinawa, he was a highly decorated officer and retired from the USMC with the rank of Lt. Colonel. Upon his retirement, he earned a master's degree from Central Michigan University and later was accepted to the Cooley Law School in Lansing MI, earning the degree of Juris Doctor with the academic distinction Summa Cum Laude.
He was also awarded a commission of Colonel in the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. He served in the State of Michigan Department of Transportation and later as the Director of Transportation for Fayette County Public Schools in Kentucky. During his working years, he remained a dedicated husband and father. After retiring from his positions in Michigan and Kentucky, he lived the remainder of his days with the love of his life in Lexington on their farm.
Throughout his life, he served the Body of Christ as a teacher, deacon, elder, and trusted mentor.
He is survived by his devoted wife Betty of 65 years. Son, John (Tracy). Daughter, Elisa (Andy). Grandchildren Clara (Wayne), Jordyn (Louis), Austin (Taylor), Blake (Sophie), Cole, Eva and great granddaughter Evelynn, brother Epp David (Connie) and sister in law, Debra. He is preceded in death by his parents Epp Chester and Myrtle Counts; and siblings Galen (Caz), Joyce (Floyd) Logan, Jewell (Bob) Logan, and Jack.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 12:00 PM, Friday, October 17, 2025, at Flatwoods Church of Christ, located at 2100 Argillite Rd,
Flatwoods, KY 41139. Burial will follow at Bellefont Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers: Chris Boyle, Kevin Boyle, Jonathon Jordan, Wayne Barnes, Louis Judge, and Ben Gentry.
Honorary Pallbearers: Douglas Jordan, and Kendra Kiser
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM till the service hour at Flatwoods Church of Christ.
