Wayne Griesemer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Holden Cremation & Funeral Service - Sparta on Jan. 7, 2026.
Wayne L. Griesemer, 79, of Rogersville, passed away peacefully Monday, January 5, 2026, in his home. Wayne was one of a kind. Those who knew him know he did things his own way. His stubbornness sometimes brought him difficulties, but that same stubbornness allowed him to raise himself and his beloved wife Nancy out of poverty, and they spent 43 years together.
Wayne was born September 20, 1946, in Heber Springs, Arkansas, to Billie Marie Griesemer. He grew up in St. Louis where he met Nancy and became a truck driver. Together, they raised her daughter Terri and their daughter Kerri. His five grandsons brought him immense pride and joy. After Nancy's passing in 2013, Wayne later reunited with Christine Hill, whom he had dated as a teenager, and she cared for him during his battle with cancer. Aside from his family, nothing made him happier than a good meal or a fast car, including his beloved cherry red 1966 Chevy II.
Wayne is survived by his dear friend Christine Hill; daughter Kerri Cox and husband Russell; five grandsons, including David, Michael (Ashley), and Nick Heuer and Bennett and Samuel Cox; four great-grandchildren; one sister Jeannie Kush; and a host of friends and other relatives.
In accordance with his wishes, he was cremated, and his ashes will be scattered at a later date. A time to visit and share memories will be held from 2:30-4:30 on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at the Lake Springfield Boathouse. Please join us to remember Wayne.
