Wayne Juneau Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by E.J. Fielding Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Jun. 20, 2025.
Wayne Anthony Juneau, Sr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025, at the age of 84. A native of Marrero, Louisiana, Wayne was a resident of Covington, Louisiana.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Curry Juneau, Sr. and Pearl Stansbury Juneau; his brothers, Curry Juneau, Jr. and Terry Juneau; and his sister, Mary Lynn Sannasardo.
Wayne was the beloved husband of Gayle Daigle Juneau, with whom he shared many years of love and companionship. He was a loving father to Wayne Anthony Juneau Jr. (Kara) and a doting grandfather to Allie Elizabeth, Sarahbelle Katherine, and Wayne Anthony III. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Clive Thomas. Wayne is survived by his devoted siblings, Connie Chauppette (Sam) and Kevin Juneau (Giselle), and his sister-in-law, Joanne Daigle (Paul), along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who loved him dearly. He will be profoundly missed by his family and countless friends.
A proud alumnus of Redemptorist High School, Wayne excelled in both football and baseball. His athletic prowess earned him a scholarship to Louisiana State University in 1958, where he played on the freshman football team as a running back on the legendary LSU National Championship team.
Beyond his athletic achievements, Wayne had a vibrant life filled with passions. He enjoyed playing golf with his buddies and was a devoted fan of his beloved LSU Tigers, especially enjoying tailgating in Touchdown Village with family and friends. He cherished taking his RV on road trips to other college campuses and had a great love for travel, exploring other countries with his wife and family.
Professionally, Wayne retired from Sunpro Solar and previously contributed his talents to American Can Company, Taylor Fortune, All Temp Refrigeration, G.E. and Lincoln Heritage Insurance.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the many dedicated healthcare professionals at Ochsner, MD Anderson Cancer Center, and the caring nurses and workers with Egan's Hospice for their compassionate support.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial mass on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, Louisiana, with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow in the adjacent Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
