Wendy M. Carpenter, 64, of Amsterdam, sadly passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam following a brief illness.
Born in Amsterdam, NY on May 5, 1960, a daughter of the late Kenneth Carpenter and Louise Cutler Barker. She graduated from Fonda Fultonville High School in 1978. Later in life Wendy went on to receive her associate's degree from Fulton-Montgomery Community College in Early Childhood Development.
Wendy made her career in Child Care working as a Daycare provider for many years. She owned and operated her own daycare "Miss Wendy's Daycare" in Amsterdam. She also worked for a time at the Head Start on Truax Road in Amsterdam.
Wendy was dedicated to caring for others, especially her own family. Family was always first. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved wind chimes, puzzles, the outdoors, and going shopping with her friends.
Survivors include her children, Richard (Stacey) Menendez and Christopher (Rogeana) Menendez. Her siblings, Kenneth (Cathy) Carpenter. Stepbrothers, Eric and Timothy Barker. Cherished grandchildren Mia, Liana, Gabriella, Lillian, Tucker, Cyrus, and Nova. Nieces and nephews, Kathy Snyder, Justin (Joy) Carpenter, Christopher Phelps and Tiffany Carpenter. Melissa(Jeremy) Dopp, Kenny Carpenter, Heather Carpenter, Dorothy (Jeffrey) Summerlin, Sharon Richards and James (Denise) Richards. Her lifelong best friend Judy Barker, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. Godchildren, Kiara Reid, Jacob and Shyla Gonzalez and Christopher Rivera.
Wendy was predeceased by her granddaughter, Jozae Menendez and sisters, Ella Andrews, Debbie Coons. A brother, Leslie Carpenter and stepbrother Sean Barker.
At the request of Wendy no services are scheduled at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rose & Hughes Funeral Home, 200 Church St. Amsterdam, NY 12010.
