Heaven's sounding sweeter all the time! Rev. Wesley Leroy Hembree, 72, entered the gates of glory on May 27, 2025 at 10:27am. He was surrounded by his wife and children.
Wesley was born to the late Cecil & Maggie Ann (Shields) Hembree on February 3, 1953 at his parents' home in rural Neosho, Missouri. He lived in the Neosho area most of his life, attending Westview Elementary and Seneca High School.
He met his true love, Virginia "Jenny" Kyler in 1975. They got married on January 10, 1977. She survives. Together they have seven children. Tressia and husband Scott Sherrill of Alma, Arkansas, Seth and Tyffanie Hembree of Quapaw, Oklahoma, Faron and Kimberly Hembree of Seneca, Missouri, Tramanda and Adam Durman of Oronogo, Missouri, William and Crystal Hembree of Neosho, Missouri, Travis Ray Hembree (heaven) and Trina and Brandin Wills of Neosho, Missouri; twelve grandchildren, Taylor and Kaitlynn Kelly of Neosho, Caleb Kelly of Granby, Lane and Addison Hembree of Quapaw, Oklahoma, Garett and Chloe Hembree of Seneca, Madison Hembree of Seneca, Weston Durman of Davenport, Iowa, Noah and Andrew Durman of Oronogo, Missouri, Bailee Sherwood of Seneca, Tyler, Braxton, and Maelynn Wills of Neosho; six great-grandchildren, and three more on the way.
Wesley worked until 1999 as a mechanic. In 1989, he owned and operated Hembree's Auto Service, for ten years, when a ATV accident left him disabled. In 1999 he preached his first sermon on Father's Day. He studied and got his minister's license. Became a pastor and a missionary. He worked mostly in the Philippines but also Jamaica and Haiti. Wesley and Jenny founded "Wading Out Deeper Ministries" in 2004.
Wesley loved to study the Bible, camp, fish, hunt, and almost anything outdoors. He loved his wife, children, and grandchildren, and telling jokes. He always had a smile on his face.
Wesley was preceded in death by his parents, all eleven of his siblings, his baby boy Travis Ray, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
Services will be held at Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Neosho, Missouri on Friday, May 30, 2025 at 2:00pm. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:30-7:00pm, also at Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Lee Evans will officiate. Eldon Potts will speak. Burial will be at New Salem Cemetery in Neosho, Missouri.
Pallbearers: sons Seth, Faron, and William Hembree and grandsons Taylor Kelly, Garett Hembree, and Lane Hembree.
