Whitner Claire Wise, age 32, of Anderson, SC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Rainey Hospice House following a long battle with Shwachman-Diamond Syndrome (SDS). Her hope and devotion during her illness were an inspiration to all she encountered.
Born August 27, 1992, in Columbus, GA, she was the daughter of Henderson and Suzanne Wells Wise.
Whitner received her Bachelor of Arts in Education-Special Education from the University of Mississippi where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. Following several years of teaching, she furthered her education, earning degrees from Greenville Technical College in Occupational Therapy Assistant and Medical Coding. She loved being active through yoga, running, and swimming. She was an avid reader and loved crafting. Whitner found joy in volunteering for children and being with her friends.
In addition to her parents, she is also survived by her brother, Griffin Wise (Kate) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; nieces, Margaret "Mimi" Wise and Charlotte Wise both of Mt. Pleasant, SC; grandmother, Dorothy H. Wise of McDonough, GA; uncles Craig Wells of Tifton GA, Winn Wise (Kim) of Newnan, GA; and many special cousins. Also surviving are her godparents, Kathy and Lonnie Whitley of Anderson, SC.
She was preceded in death by grandparents, Thomas R. Wise and Bill and Ginny Wells; and aunt, Betsy Wood.
The family would like to thank all of Whitner's doctors and caregivers, especially Dr. Bhumika Patel and her team at Prisma Health Hematology/Oncology, for the wonderful care provided.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church of Anderson with Rev. Dr. Dennis Tedder and Rev. Dr. Maren Sonstegard-Spray officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Welcome Center.
