Mr. William Thomas "Bill" Abbott, age 61 of Lexington, Indiana, entered this life on December 24, 1962 in Madison, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late Donald Lee and Mary Helen Lutz Abbott. A life-long resident of Jefferson County, Bill was raised in the Kent Baptist Church in Kent, Indiana. Bill graduated in 1981 from Southwestern High School where he participated in FFA and band. He began his working career at the age of 16 with the Kroger Company and spent 20 years there as head of the frozen food department. On September 29, 1989, Bill was united in marriage to Ceceila "Cil" Hartwell at the Hanover United Methodist Church in Hanover, Indiana. They enjoyed 35 years of marriage together. Bill was currently a 22 year employee of VSG in Madison where he worked in production. He enjoyed his dog Sabrina, restoring antique tractors, restoring and driving classic cars, collecting World War I and World War II memorabilia and playing the guitar. Bill died on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 10:10 a.m. at the Norton King's Daughters' Hospital Emergency Room in Madison, Indiana. Please Click Here to View the Video Tribute
A LOVING FAMILY
Bill will be missed by his loving wife of 35 years, Cil Hartwell Abbott of Lexington, Indiana; his sister, Penny Gordon and her husband, Tony of Lexington, Indiana; his niece, Christina Erickson and her husband, Ryan of Indianapolis, Indiana; his nephew, Trevor Brittain and his wife, Victoria of Milton, Kentucky; his great nephew, Hudson Brittain; his sister in law, Mary Goodin of North Vernon, Indiana; his brothers in law, Terry Hartwell and his wife, Laura of Panama City, Florida, Thomas Hartwell and his wife, Nancy of North Vernon, Indiana, Dean Harwell and his wife, Jayme of North Vernon, Indiana, Keith Hartwell and his wife, Lisa of North Vernon, Indiana; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Lee Abbott, died April 4, 1995, his mother, Mary Helen Lutz Abbott, died December 23, 2014, his brother and sister in law, Michael Lee Abbott, died April 11, 2023 and his wife, Sharon, died September 18, 2018, his brothers in law, Michael and David Hartwell; his cat, Gidget; his dog, Daisy; Bill would often joke about his dark wavy hair will have preceded him in death.
FUNERAL CEREMONY
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, October 18, 2024, at 6:00 p.m., by Pastor Mark Calvert at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. TO JOIN THE SERVICE LIVE CLICK HERE
