William Leonard "Bill" Behrens

JAMESTOWN - William "Bill" Leonard Behrens, 82, died Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Infinity Senior Care in Jamestown.

He was born on June 4, 1943, in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, and was the son of the late Joseph Leonard and Lila Marie Schemel Behrens. A former resident of Wisconsin, Michigan and Indiana, Bill and his wife relocated to North Carolina where he enjoyed being close to his daughter. Following thirty-seven years of service, he retired from Chrysler Corporation where he traveled globally as a Quality Control Executive. Bill was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was a diehard Green Bay Packers fan and an official "Cheesehead."

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven sisters, Dorothy Behrens, Florence Green, Delores Brovold, Margaret Bunnell, Norma Nacke, Katherine Edens and Marie Behrens; and a brother, James "Jimmy" Behrens.

Bill is survived by his wife, Beverly "Bev" Claire Varvel Behrens, whom he married on May 18, 1968; daughter, Dr. Melissa Behrens (Jonathan Smiley) of Thomasville; his beloved dog, Bailey; two sisters, Mary Poeppel of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, and Lois O'Neill of Oshkosh, Wisconsin; one brother, John Behrens (Virginia) of Darien, Wisconsin; two brothers-in-law, Frank Bunnell of Delavan, Wisconsin, and Delbert "Del" Edens of Elkhorn, Wisconsin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a celebration of life service at a later date, and a memorial mass will be held in Wisconsin in April.
