It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William “Bill” Ackerman, who left us on May 5, 2025, at the age of 78. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose warmth, humor, and compassion touched all who knew him.

He is lovingly remembered by his four children: Nicole (Steve), Neil, Sean (Barbara), and Sarah; his cherished brother, Don; his grandchildren: Jessica, Elizabeth, Hayley, Mikaela, Allannah, Isabella, Emma, Aubrey, Annika, Alexander, and Charlotte; and his great-grandchildren: Julianna, Julian, and Kadrina. Bill also shared a special bond with his loyal companions, Milo and Mango.

Bill's legacy is one of love, resilience, and quiet strength. His life was enriched by family, friendships, and a deep affection for animals.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a celebration of Life will be held on June 8 , 2025 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Cemeno’s, 1630 Essington Rd, Joliet, IL. Friends and family are warmly invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of a life well lived.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Bill’s honor to a local animal shelter—a cause close to his heart.
