William Marchal Brinly Jr., 91, passed away Monday, April 24, 2023 surrounded by his loved ones.
Bill was born December 22, 1931 to William Sr. and Ruth Brinly.
He graduated from St. Xavier High School in 1949 and then joined the Air Force, where he served from 1951-1955. He later worked as a safety engineer for Indiana Army Ammunition for many years. He also worked at Murphy Elevator as a draftsman and drew up the blueprints for the first private residence elevator in Louisville. Bill was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, the Knights of Columbus Assumption Council, Louisville Genealogy Society, and St. John's Sick and Benevolent Society.
Bill enjoyed researching his family genealogy and was always ready to detail his family tree to anyone who would listen.
He was a loving father, grandfather, and devoted spouse.
Preceding him in death is his 1st wife, Elizabeth Ann Brinly; 2nd wife, Shirley Bobzien Brinly; sister, Ruth Marchand; and brother, Robert Brinly.
Bill is survived by his children, Vincent Brinly (Hallie) and Angela "Angel" Brinly; and 5 grandchildren, Justin Taulbee, Andrew Taulbee, Hazel Brinly, Max Brinly, and Liam Brinly.
His funeral Mass will be held Thursday, 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 7335 Southside Dr.
Visitation will be from 9:30 – 11 a.m. at church, prior to Mass.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. John's Sick and Benevolent Society, 3711 Wheeler Avenue, Louisville, Ky 40215.
