Bill's Memorial Video
On Wednesday, July 17, 2024, William "Bill/Bumps" C. Conradt Jr., age 91 of Shiocton, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born in Appleton on September 9, 1932, to the late William Sr. and Merina (Klika) Conradt. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was currently a member of Messiah Ev. Lutheran Church in Shiocton. Bill was a life long resident of Shiocton. After graduating from Shiocton High School as salutatorian, Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from November 1955 until October 1958. On September 23, 1961, Bill and Betty Ann Schwandt were united in marriage at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London.
God blessed Bill and Betty Ann with two children; Michael and Michelle. Bill's greatest accomplishment was his family; especially his grandchildren. He was a proud grandpa and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren; Mackenzie, Cole and Gage.
Over the years, Bill was involved in numerous things within the community. He loved to hunt and fish, and shared that with others as one of the co-founders of The Wolf River Game Club. For many years, Bill and Betty owned and operated a successful business; the Port Lite in Shiocton. Bill enjoyed country life to its fullest; whether farming or gardening, he appreciated watching the things he planted grow. He was a member of the big Red Club (UW Badgers) and an avid Packer fan.
Bill will be missed by his wife of almost 63 years, Betty Ann; their children, Michael (Dawn) Conradt and Michelle (Steve) Relien; his grandchildren Mackenzie (Dan) Wunderlich, Cole Conradt (special friend Maddy Sargent) and Gage Relien. Bill is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; Betty Ann's parents, Harley and Fern (Marcks) Schwandt; a brother, Cliff (Lorraine) Conradt; sisters, Joyce (Richard) Schnal and Jean (William) Arneson; Betty Ann's sister, Marilyn (Allan) Oberstadt and a nephew, Jonathan Schnal.
The Funeral Service for Bill will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at Messiah Ev. Lutheran Church in Shiocton with Rev. Bradley Ragner officiating. Visitation will take place at the church from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Full military honors will be held.

Bumps was legendary to us. My Rock `n´ roll band, the Eminent Domain played at the Port Lite often in the late 1960s. We were still under age, so our parents had to accompany us to gigs.

I remember one time when we were playing and a couple of men were close to getting into a fight and Bumps was called out from behind the bar and he stood between the two men and pretty much threw them both in different directions to stop the fight. We kept playing as this happened so that the two combatants couldn´t hear each other´s remarks. Things then settled down.
Pretty amazing.
