William A. "Bill" Doak, Jr., 72, of Groton, CT, passed away on April 21, 2025. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Lin Sammataro Candler Doak; beloved grandchildren, Jack, Matthew, Mason, and Sarah; stepchildren, Kim, Matt, Josh Candler; and daughter Katherine Doak; and several siblings, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by mother Marion Dickerson Doak; father William Doak Sr.; and sister Linda O'Connor.
Bill had a long career in various hospitals throughout New England as a Radiology Administrator. He loved the game of golf and looked forward to the annual Thanksgiving game with his father-in-law, Jack Sammataro. The winner decided if the loser could partake of the coveted Candied Yams!
Bill was a kind soul who was always ready to jump in and help anyone in need. He also had a deep love for animals. He was devoted to his Wheaten Terriers and loved taking them on long walks and trips to DQ. His broad smile and quick laugh will be missed beyond measure.
There are no calling hours. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers please make a contribution to your favorite animal rescue. Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, Westerly is in charge of the arrangements. For online condolences please visit www.gaffneydolanfuneralhome.com
