William Duffill Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by C. C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home - Ridgewood on Sep. 20, 2024.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bill Duffill, age 57 - a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and cherished friend to many. Bill passed away peacefully on September 19, with his family by his side.
Bill is survived by his wife Peggy; children Luke and Leah; mother Marceline; sister Sheri (Norman); brother-in-law Tom (Sherri); nieces/nephews Melissa, Phil (Jennifer), Marci, C.J. (Sydney), Michael (Allison), Thomas, Stephen, Matthew, Reilly, Emma, Halle, MacKenzie, Morgan Ryleigh, Morgan Patrick, Maya, and Stella. Bill was predeceased by both his father Jack and sister Lani.
Bill was a very proud father. His love for both his wife and children were boundless, and he took immense pride in his children's achievements, always encouraging their academic pursuits and personal growth.
He was born in Mt. Prospect, IL, on October 12, 1966. His family later moved to Morristown, NJ where Bill grew up. Bill led a life marked by love, faith, resilience, loyalty, and an unwavering commitment to those he cared about. He embraced life with such fervor that it inspired those around him. Bill was generous beyond measure and we can all recount the ways in which he impacted our lives.
Bill was a graduate of Gettysburg College where he was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He faithfully served his country in the United States Navy, during Desert Storm. While on active duty, Bill earned his master's degree from Troy State University.
As a technical sales leader, Bill was a force to be reckoned with. His career was distinguished by his fierce competitiveness, tenacity, and unwavering integrity. He was known not only for his exceptional solution selling skills, but also his ability to build lasting relationships with clients and colleagues alike. Bill always provided mentorship and professional excellence in a style all his own. He was either your most formidable competitor or your staunchest ally.
Beyond his professional and family commitments, Bill had a passion for music, ice hockey, sailing, tennis, and golf, which filled his leisure time with joy and fulfillment. Bill spent many years volunteering as coach for the Morristown High School ice hockey team. He enjoyed competitive sailing with a crew where he was affectionately called "Life Saver" after he pulled the team through a rough storm on the water. Bill was also proud to be a member of the Ridgewood Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf, tennis, paddle tennis and catching up with friends.
His infectious enthusiasm and zest for life were palpable to all who knew him. He touched many lives and the friendships he made were very meaningful to him. He leaves behind a host of friends and colleagues who will miss him dearly and a legacy of love, determination, and faith that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
A funeral Mass for Bill will be held on October 19, at 11am at St. Peter the Apostle Church, 445 Fifth Avenue in River Edge, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, in Bill's memory.
Rest in peace, Bill. Your spirit and strength will forever remain in our hearts.

We first met Billy when he was about 7 or 8 years old. He was on the hockey team in Morristown. He was adorable as was the other members. They won
a championship and celebrated with pride. What a guy!! Mrs. Brown and Larry Brown, a team member
