William "Larry" Gill, age 80 of Willoughby, passed away on May 16, 2023 surrounded by family at Lake West Hospital. Larry was born on July 22, 1942 to the late William (Bill) N. Gill and Jane (nee: Shaw) Gill Bates. In his hometown of Minerva, he played football in high school. Larry was a graduate of Kent State University in 1965 and earned his master's degree from Baldwin Wallace in 1980. He worked as a salesman for Hallmark Cards and S&S Shipping Supply Distributor. Larry was an active member of First Church Congregational since 1974.
He enjoyed hiking, golfing, and taking fishing trips to Canada. He grew up taking vacations to Canada which continued throughout his life with his own family. Larry was also a fan of The Ohio State University Buckeyes and Cleveland Guardians. Larry was a gentle soul that always thought of others. He regularly donated to charities and tried to always treat people with kindness. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Valerie (Tom) Rose, and Brandon (Amanda Gensur) Gill; former spouse and good friend, Gabriele Gill; grandchildren, Kylie Rose, and Henry Gill; and sisters, Rilla Jane Gill and Heidi (Lee) Edwards.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Lorrie Heather Gill; and grandson, Justis William Rose.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 4:30pm until the memorial service at 6:00pm at Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave., Painesville, Ohio 44077. A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023 at noon at Riverside Cemetery, Painesville, Ohio.
