William Blanford "Bill" Haynes, age 88, of Guston, KY, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at his residence.
He was born on February 2, 1936, son of the late William Herbert Haynes and Lillie Mae Dowell Haynes. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Decker Haynes; son, Thomas Haynes; daughter, Shawneen Jenkins; sister, Rayma Faye Hubbard; and brothers, Willis Henry Haynes and David Eugene Haynes.
Bill had a servant's heart and always put others before himself. He loved farming, held the office of Meade County Judge Executive for some time, and was also the union president of the AFGE Sixth District. Bill was a member of the Salem Baptist Church where he served as the business meeting moderator for years and was the caretaker of the cemetery, and he took great pride in that calling. He made sure that the grounds were well-kept at all times, and was adamant that "everyone deserved a marker". He was a devoted dad, papaw, and friend, and will be dearly missed by all who came to know him.
He is survived by his children, Ryan (Bonnie) Haynes and Dean (Lora) Haynes; son-in-law, Jonathan Jenkins; grandchildren, Nicholas (Caitlin) Haynes, Amber (Johnathan) Dixon, Andrew Haynes, Cova Mae (Hadyn) Angel, Alexandra Haynes, William Jenkins, and Erin Jenkins; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Loralei Dixon; and a community that loved him.
Visitation will be held at Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, from 12:00 P.M -8:00 P.M. EST and at Salem Baptist Church Thursday, November 21, 2024, after 9:00 A.M. EST.
Funeral services will be held at Salem Baptist Church (5286 Old State Rd, Brandenburg, KY 40108) on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. EST with Bro. Garry Hicks officiating.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery Fund (5286 Old State Rd, Brandenburg, KY 40108).
