William S. Highsmith Jr. "Stan", age 69, of Niceville, Florida, passed away on June 17, 2025. Stan was born on June 17, 1956 in Montgomery, Alabama to William "Bill" and Dorcas Highsmith. Stan was preceded by his mother, Dorcas Highsmith. Stan is survived by his father and step-mother, Bill (Nelda) Highsmith, and his sister, Melody (Justin) White. Stan is survived by his loving wife, Sharon of 48 years; his sons, William (Jessica) Highsmith III, Adam (Kyujin) Highsmith, and his grandson Ayden Highsmith. His memory lives on with his cousins, nieces and nephews. He proudly served in the USAF from 1975 to 1994. While serving in the Air Force he completed his Bachelor's Degree in Management at Southern Illinois University and he retired from the USAF as a Captain. He completed his Master's Degree in Management at Florida Institute of Technology in 2000. He was extremely proud of his academic accomplishments. He then began working in civil service as a key member of the United States Special Operations Command Team in both Intelligence and Acquisition for 11 years followed by a rewarding career in Industry until 2019. Stan loved a challenge. He earned a black-belt in Tang-Soo-Do in 1987. He later used his gift of gab by becoming a licensed auctioneer. Stan was thrilled to finally retire in 2019, and he embraced life's new chapter. One of his passions was his love of golf. He became a true student of the game. He and Sharon joined Rocky Bayou Country Club and enjoyed the friendships formed both on and off the course. Also, he loved competing on the regional US Am Tour where he won multiple times. His positivity shaped the lives of all who knew him. He never met a stranger. He led by example through kindness, wisdom and an unconditional love for his family. He was especially proud to become a "Pa" to little Ayden. He was a gift to us all and he will be forever missed. A celebration of his life is planned for August 3, 2025 in Niceville, Florida at Rocky Bayou Country Club at 3pm. A graveside service for Stan will be at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida on August 4, 2025 at 9:30am with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested a donation be made in his name to the First Tee-Gulf Coast.
