William Evans Johnson, known by friends and family as Bill, Papa, Dad, and the devoted husband of Gloria, passed away peacefully early Friday morning on March 21st, 2025. Bill was a veteran who served in the US Navy during Vietnam, and then started working his way up at Public Service Company soon after he and Gloria were married in 1968. Bill retired as a Control Operator at Public Service Company after thirty years of service, then spent his retired years working part time jobs, volunteering at Little Sisters of the Poor, enjoying his children and grandchildren, growing his garden, and taking some amazing trips with Gloria.
Bill and Gloria raised their family in their Lakewood community over their 57 years of marriage, and they were both devoted parishioners of Notre Dame Catholic Church. Bill lived to be 79 years old, and in his later years he was most proud of his children Darell and his wife Laura, and Toni Lynn and her husband Ryan, his grandchildren Allison, David, Hayden, Isaac, and Finn, and how he kept his beautiful yard and flower gardens. He loved to share vegetables from his garden and nurture plants in his sunroom. Bill was very loved and he will be missed by the many family members and friends that knew him.
