William H, Mazalewski, age 83 years, of Sagamore Beach, formerly of Manomet, died at home on Sunday, September 10, 2023. He was born in Plymouth on September 1, 1940, to the late Stanley and Agnes (Mahoney) Mazalewski. Bill worked as a firefighter and later as Lieutenant for the Town of Plymouth for 30 years. His career as a firefighter started at the Central Fire Station in downtown Plymouth and he later retired from the Cedarville Fire Station, where he was admired and respected by his entire crew. In addition to his career in fire fighting, Bill was a long time lobsterman, a passion he shared with both of his sons- Stanley and Chris.
Bill had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed traveling in New England and beyond. He had a love of state fairs- especially the "Big E" in Massachusetts and the Fryeburg Fair in Maine. After retiring, he spent many winters cruising the Caribbean and enjoying warm winters in Florida. Bill loved spending time with his family and spent many happy hours with his long time partner, Janet Murley, and her grandchildren attending many school and sporting events. Bill loved "checking-in" with his children and could be regularly found waiting at the fishing pier to see his sons coming in after their day of lobstering.
Bill will be sadly missed by Janet and his three children- Linda Mazalewski, Stanley Mazalewski and his wife, Jodie, all of Manomet and Christopher Mazalewski of Carver, as well as Bills former wife, Carol Mazalewski of Manomet. Bill is also survived by his sister Mary Zaniboni of Plymouth, Richard Mazalewski and wife Joyce,Irene Wood and husband, Steve all of Carver and Bobby Mazalewski of Plymouth. Janet's children -Glen Murley, Scott Murley and wife, Andrea all of Florida and Kerry Bates and her husband Brian of Plymouth.
Bill was fondly known as Jahjoo by Janet's grandchildren- Ben, Sarah and Audrey Bates. He was known as Grampy to Craig and Gracie Murley and Jordan Jorgensen of Florida.
Visiting hours for Bill and his family will be held at the CARTMELL- DAVIS LIFE CELEBRATION FUNERAL HOME, 619 State Road, Plymouth (MANOMET) on Monday, September 18, 2023 from 4:00PM-7:00PM. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00AM at the Second Congregational Church of Plymouth, 518 State Road, Plymouth (MANOMET). Burial will be in the Manomet Cemetery.
Memorial donations in his name may be made to the Plymouth Firefighters Relief Association.
